Location The location of your Shingle Inn Café is vitally important. Shingle Inn has a specific site criteria that we utilise to help select the best location for your store. We're happy for you to seek out and suggest possible locations, however, ultimately the site must fit within the company's guidelines. Shingle Inn has established relationships with many lessors and will undertake the negotiation of the lease on your behalf, typically achieving a more attractive deal than an independent operator would on his/her own. In addition, Shingle Inn will oversee the following for you
Pre-opening training You will be trained in all Shingle Inn's systems and procedures during our comprehensive six week pre-opening training program. The initial weeks will consist of meeting key personnel and undertaking an overview of all National Office functions. This training will also include planning your opening marketing promotions with the help of our experienced marketing team as well as undertaking customer service and sales training. Following this you'll undertake a minimum of three weeks training in-store. In this environment you will gain valuable experience with respect to the hands-on operation of a Shingle Inn Café. In-store training provides you with a comprehensive insight into all facets of the business, including but not limited to
Ongoing support Each store is assigned an Area Manager who will provide ongoing business support to enable you to make the most of this exciting opportunity to own your own business. Our Area Managers have extensive experience in operating Shingle Inn Cafés and will regularly visit your store to provide advice and feedback on the operation of your café including business planning, training, human resources and rostering, product presentation, ordering and marketing ideas. You'll also have access to the expertise of National Office personnel who can assist you with information technology, marketing and administration queries. Information technology Shingle Inn has implemented an advanced register system to enable francisees to easily track sales, wastage and promotional success at the touch of a button. This register is linked to your computer and the network to enable accurate analysis of your business, allowing us to jointly assess the success of promotions and new products. All franchisees are required to have their own computer to enable effective communication between National Office and stores. You will also be issued with a Shingle Inn email address prior to your store opening. Marketing There is a two-tiered approach to Shingle Inn's marketing strategy, requiring varying degrees of input from franchisees. Network marketing activities are funded by the 3% marketing levy contribution and include a mixture of both 'branding' and 'call to action' initiatives designed to cement the brand in the minds of customers. These activities are focussed on achieving the overarching strategy developed by the marketing team, aligned with Shingle Inn's overall network goals. Network activities are for the benefit of the entire network are are often more complimentary, by design, than being able to take into account the nuances of individual cafés and their specific customer base. As such, local marketing and sponsorship opportunities provide a forum for you to directly target your store's specific clientele through resources provided in the marketing manual and via the expertise of the marketing team.
